Ohio Will Pay Up to $6,166 Toward Your Child’s CBA Tuition.

Here’s How to Claim It — Before the Process Changes July 1st.

The EdChoice Scholarship is real money from the State of Ohio — up to $6,166 per year for grades K–8. Every Ohio family qualifies for some level of EdChoice support, regardless of where you live or what school district you’re in.

At CBA, most families pay as little as $300–$400 plus fees out of pocket after the scholarship is applied. And if you start before July 1, we handle the application process for you.

This summer, the process changes. Ohio is switching to a new digital system on July 1st. If you start now, Mrs. Loftis will walk you through the current process we know inside and out.

EdChoice Scholarship FAQ

Everything Cincinnati families need to know about using EdChoice at CBA

What is the EdChoice Scholarship in Ohio?
The EdChoice Scholarship is a state-funded program that helps Ohio families pay for private school tuition. Through EdChoice Expansion, every family in Ohio qualifies regardless of income, school district, or zip code. For grades K–8, the scholarship provides up to $6,166 per year per student. Central Baptist Academy is a fully approved EdChoice-participating school.
Does my family qualify for the EdChoice Scholarship?
Yes. As of the 2025–2026 school year, all Ohio families qualify for EdChoice Expansion. There is no income cap and no district requirement. Whether you live in Mt. Healthy, North College Hill, Finneytown, Greenhills, or anywhere else in Ohio, your child is eligible. Families with household income below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level may qualify for additional support that covers the remaining tuition gap entirely.
How much is the EdChoice Scholarship for K–8 students?
The EdChoice Expansion Scholarship provides up to $6,166 per year for students in grades K–8. At CBA, tuition is $6,466 for K–5 and $6,566 for grades 6–8. That means most families pay as little as $300–$400 plus fees out of pocket for the entire school year.
How much does Central Baptist Academy cost after EdChoice?
After applying the $6,166 EdChoice scholarship, CBA families typically pay only $300–$400 plus fees per year out of pocket. That works out to roughly $30–$40 per month for a Christ-centered, small-class-size education. Families with lower incomes may pay even less — or nothing at all.
How do I apply for the EdChoice Scholarship at CBA?
It's a simple 3-step process: (1) Call or visit CBA to start your enrollment — (513) 521-5481. (2) Mrs. Loftis, our admissions coordinator, will walk you through the EdChoice paperwork step by step. (3) The state approves your scholarship and applies it directly to tuition. We handle the hard part so you don't have to.
What is the deadline to apply for EdChoice for the 2026–2027 school year?
The EdChoice application window for the 2026–2027 school year runs from February 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. However, we strongly recommend starting the process before July 1, 2026, when Ohio transitions to a new digital system. Applying now means Mrs. Loftis can guide you through the current process that we know inside and out.
What changes to EdChoice are happening in July 2026?
Starting July 1, 2026, Ohio is moving to new digital platforms — ClassWallet and FACTS — to manage EdChoice scholarship funds. The scholarship amount stays the same, but the application and payment process will change. If you apply before July 1st, CBA will help you navigate the current system. Either way, we'll support you through the transition.
Is Central Baptist Academy an EdChoice-eligible school?
Yes. Central Baptist Academy is a fully approved EdChoice-participating school in Cincinnati, Ohio. We have been helping families use EdChoice scholarships for years. CBA is located at 7645 Winton Road in Mt. Healthy and serves students in grades K–8 with a Christ-centered, Bible-integrated education.
What if my family's income is very low — can EdChoice cover full tuition?
Potentially, yes. Families with household income at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level may qualify for enough combined aid to cover the entire tuition gap after EdChoice. Call us at (513) 521-5481 and Mrs. Loftis will help you explore every option available to your family. No child should miss out on a quality education because of cost.
Can I use EdChoice for kindergarten through 8th grade at CBA?
Yes. The EdChoice Expansion Scholarship covers all grades K through 8, which is every grade CBA offers. Your child can benefit from the scholarship from their very first year of school through 8th grade graduation. Many of our families have used EdChoice for their child's entire CBA journey.
What documents do I need to apply for EdChoice?
You'll generally need proof of Ohio residency (utility bill, lease, or ID), your child's birth certificate, and basic household income documentation. Don't worry about having everything perfect — Mrs. Loftis will tell you exactly what's needed and help you gather it. Call (513) 521-5481 to get started.
Why choose Central Baptist Academy over other EdChoice schools in Cincinnati?
CBA has served Cincinnati families since 1968 with a Christ-centered education that parents trust. With small class sizes, experienced teachers, daily Bible instruction, chapel, and a caring community, your child gets individual attention in a safe, faith-based environment. Plus, with EdChoice covering most of tuition, a CBA education costs about the same as a monthly streaming subscription.
